Obituary

Mr. Gaylion Johnson, affectionately known as “Snookum”, was born October 18, 1833, to Marvin and Edna Moore Johnson in Lexington, Texas. He attended public school in Temple, Texas. He was baptized into Christ on December 17, 1988, at 5th Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Harward. He later moved his membership to 10th & M Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Lewis Blair. He was currently a member of Ave T Church of Christ until his health failed. He served in the the United States Army on September 27, 1954, excelling to the rank of Private First Class. He served as Gun Crewman, handling anti-aircraft artillery during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He married Hattie Jo Fitzgerald on November 15, 1960. He worked for Wilsonart International for fifteen years, Temple Independent School District for eight years, and Rockwool Industries for nineteen years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Edna Moore Johnson, brothers, Amos Johnson and Julius Johnson, and two sisters, Mattie Johnson and Alma Johnson.
Survivors are his wife, Hattie Jo Johnson of Temple; son, Garland Johnson of Temple; daughters, Rhonda Terry (James), Tina Johnson, Brenda Beaudoin (Brian), and Latiesha Johnson all of Temple; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
